  1. Beautiful pix! Definitely fearsome and flighty, but lovely work in the end :)

BTW, Kate's not filthy. There's a reason I haven't been posting pictures of Dixie. Should'a bought a horse with less white... ;)

  2. Lovely little documentary. She looks like a draft cross with her big barrel and fizzy coat. And you are one brave lady to stand your ground for a picture of two rear hooves right in front of you.

  3. I loved this post. Beautifully photographed and an intriguing journey through Kate's mind. F's are good! Even "filthy" and "frazzled" have a certain charm.

  4. Funder--She IS really filthy. It's just that our dirt is dun-colored!

dp--The brave one was Al. He stood his ground as she charged down at him, made one feint then chose to move away a bit before the hooves flew. And looking at her, yes, I could almost imagine Fjord cross, tho I've worked with a Fjord, and she's not THAT broad!

BJC--I'm not sure there's any "mind" there!

  6. HAHAHA! You made me laugh with your comment at my place...I am spiing some pretty awesome looking rolling OPEN hills there behind your bucking horse! Of course...we envy and long for what we do not have!

  7. Unfortunately, KK, no one but the National Guard has access to most of those hills--there part of the Yakima Firing Range, artillery practice and all. That's one reason I can say my horses are genuinely "bomb-proof!"

  8. Oh yea, that would make them a bit bomb proof! Too darned bad about the access...great looking territory!
Well, love to see all the pics of your Kate..she is such a solid looking mare!

  12. Oh, lovely! She's beautiful! If I had a paint, I'd want it to look just like her (OK, I've had enough white...)

And look at those big round feet. She is a great trail horse, I think.
